City Council

Eric Spear - City Council

Eric Spear's interview and profile on seacoastonline.com. His answer to the question of how he would change Portsmouth has both charmed and intrigued me.

Information taken from Spear for City Council door hanger pamphlet

Portsmouth has changed dramatically in the past ten years. We have new buildings, new people and new businesses. Yet even more dramatic transformations are in store for us in the next decade. Work with me to guide that process so that we continue to have a livable Portsmouth that every one of us can call home.

Experience:

Formed the grass-roots Portsmouth Progressive School Building Association to provide a forum to exchange information and ideas that lead to community consensus to renovate the Parrott Avenue Middle School.

Advocated for a new approach to the appointment process and memberships on the city's public boards and chaired the city's Blue Ribbon Committee on Board and Commission Appointment Process.

Serves on the Traffic and Safety Committee reviewing everything from individual resident petitions to large development projects.

Serves on the Peirce Island Committee and helped start the Peirce Island Ranger Program.
